Window treatments fitted to McKinney homes
Custom blinds and shutters only work if the numbers are right, so we take them ourselves at every McKinney opening. A treatment cut to a wrong measurement is not returnable, which is why we never work from a list sent over.

Exterior patio shades built for McKinney afternoons
A west-facing patio in McKinney takes the worst of the afternoon. Exterior shades stop that sun on the outside of the glass instead of after it has already come through, which is what keeps the space usable and takes heat load off the rooms behind it.
- Solar screen, motorized and retractable outdoor shades
- Openness factor chosen for the way your patio faces
- Porches, patios, pergolas and outdoor rooms
Room by room in a McKinney home
Rooms that drive the cooling bill
Cellular shades trap air in their cells, which is the reason they insulate where a flat fabric does not. Worth the money on the glass that is actually costing you.
Outdoor rooms
A porch or covered patio in McKinney is usable through the afternoon with exterior shades and unusable without them. Motorized versions roll up out of the weather when the wind turns.
Tall and two-storey windows
Weight decides this before style does. Real wood is lighter than faux for the same panel, and a heavy panel on a tall opening loads the hinges and sags over years.
Wide sliding doors
A door you use every day has to keep working. Bypass or bi-fold panels move out of the way and stack somewhere that is not the walkway, which is a mounting decision made at the opening.
Picking a material without guessing
The choice usually comes down to how a material behaves rather than how it looks. Wood is light and shows grain but moves with humidity. Faux wood ignores humidity and is heavier, which matters on a tall panel. Composite sits between them. On the fabric side the weave is doing the work: an open weave keeps the view and lets heat through, a tight weave cuts heat and closes the view, and only a blackout liner genuinely darkens a room.
Shading the outside of the glass in McKinney
A west-facing patio takes the worst of the afternoon. Once that sun is through the glass the heat is already in the room and an interior treatment is managing the symptom. Exterior shades are the only part of the job that changes how much heat arrives in the first place, and on a covered patio they are the difference between a space you use in July and one you look at.
Retractable shades
Roll up out of the weather when the space is not in use, which keeps fabric out of wind and hail and extends its working life.
Outdoor roller shades
Straightforward roll-down shade for porches and outdoor rooms, in a range of openness factors and fabric colours.
Solar screen patio shades
Open-weave screen that cuts glare and heat while keeping the view out to the yard. The usual answer for a covered patio taking hard afternoon sun.
Exterior solar shades for windows
Not only patios. Mounted outside the glass on a west elevation, they cut the cooling load on that wall rather than managing it after the fact.
Motorization
When a motor earns its money
Wide openings are where motorization stops being a luxury. A heavy shade across a patio door is genuinely hard to operate by hand, and the harder it is the less often it moves. On a wide opening the motor is the thing that makes the shade useful rather than decorative.
